Happy Holidays!

CHEERS! TO A HAPPY NEW YEAR
(Merry Christmas, Happy Channukah, Happy New Year!)

Above is the photo my husband and I will be sending with our holiday cards this year.  Well, more specifically it’s a “Happy New Year” card.  For several reasons:  1- Hubby’s family is Christian while my family is Jewish, so it’s much easier to pick a holiday everyone celebrates.  and 2- I’ve just been so darn busy printing everyone else’s holiday cards, Save the Date cards, Wedding invitations and personalized stationery I *still* haven’t had a minute to work on anything for myself.  Our cards are designed and I plan on printing everything next week, or possibly even the first week in January.

For now I’m just finishing up in the studio, listening to my Solomon Burke album looking forward to a quiet weekend in Chicago.  Hubby and I usually travel down south to spend Christmas with his family, but this year we couldn’t coordinate with everyone so we’ll be staying in town.  Tomorrow night we got a hotel room downtown.  It will be a nice getaway without any of the hassel of getting on planes.  I’m definitely  looking forward to some quiet time away from home, work and routines.

December was (as always) a super busy month!  It was fabulous, but also challenging and exhausting.  I worked 7 craft fairs in 4 weeks, mostly 12 hour days and only took 3 days off in 30 days.  It was very satisfying, of course, but now I’m glad to take a few deep breaths and enjoy the holidays with my loved ones.

Chicago Holiday Renegade Craft Fair

Saturday and Sunday December 3rd – 4th I will be selling at the Chicago Holiday Renegade Craft Fair!

Look for me at booth 58 with Cussing Cozies!

It’s hard to believe this time last year it was 20* and snowing in Chicago.  We had to load in to Pulaski Field house in a snow storm. Of course that didn’t stop the Chicago crowds from coming.  It was as busy as always.  This winter the temps have barely dropped below freezing!  I’m not complaining, but it’s definitely quite a contrast.

If you plan on coming to the fair, I recommend coming to shop in the mornings before 1p or in the evening after 4p. That way you can easily get around and won’t have to fight crowds.  I also recommend taking a look at the artist page before you arrive and make note of the vendors you definitely want to visit.  There is so much cool stuff it’s hard to see it all.

Have fun! Happy Shopping! and thank you for support small independent local businesses! (like me) :)

West Elm + Etsy

Last night I had the pleasure of setting up my cards and selling for an evening at the West Elm store in Chicago!  The picture below is of my set up (taken with my crappy phone camera)

About a month ago someone from Etsy contacted me asking for me to participate in the one-day holiday event showcasing local Etsy sellers in each one of West Elm’s 37 stores.  Of course I said yes!

It was really great to be selling at a venue other than a crowded craft fair, plus there were drinks and snacks.  :) The event was from 6-9p, there was a craft DIY workshop being held at the same time plus 5 other Etsy sellers also selling wares.   It was a really nice event and a great way to interact with some people who had never even heard of Etsy before…

And now, after working late last night, I’m now taking a quiet morning before starting more preperations for the Chicago Holiday Renegade Craft Fair this weekend. (all day Saturday and Sunday).  It’s been a whirlwind of a holiday season this year, plus working a craft fair every weekend doesn’t leave much free time, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  And I’ll really appreciate the family time to relax once everything else dies down.
