I actually took all these photos and posted them on my flickr site before the wedding madness kicked in, I just never had a chance to post them up here on the blog.
There are shots of my most recent custom project. I created an 8×10″ two color print of the hands ceremony for a couple to give as a wedding gift to their friends.

I was really happy about the final outcome. And I got an email back from the customer who loved them as well. It’s so nice to hear. I have a few more custom jobs coming up over the next few weeks, as well trying to acclimate back into ‘real life’ after all the wedding hoopla. I’ll also be stocking up on inventory as I’ll be sharing a booth at the Renegade Craft Fair on Sunday, Sept 12th with Cheesecake handmade beauty. (very exciting, but so much work to do in the next month.)
I’ll also be working binding a new stock of journals that will hopefully be up on Etsy and in stores soon! I’ll keep you posted.

I’m finally back in action after 2.5 weeks of wedding and honeymoon madness. The honeymoon was a glorious and stress free road trip and backpacking adventure. My husband (yay!) and I drove North to Michigan’s Upper Penninsula and then took a 3 hr ferry over to Isle Royal National Park. We spent 5 nights / 6 days camping, backpacking and hiking 45 miles across the island. It was exhausting and cleansing and beautiful and peaceful and perfect! We took a few days more driving south back to Chicago, stopping in Door County WI for two nights then New Glarius, WI, home of the world famous brewery.
I just got back in town, unpacked, and have piles of laundry waiting for me. I feel rejuvenated and ready to jump back into the swing of things. It was a wonderful two weeks.
I just got back from the studios, finishing another custom job that I’m really happy with! The customer wanted a version of the Hands Ceremony (I think I mentioned it previously) to be printed as a wedding gift for one of their friends’ weddings. I designed a very simple version of the text with two flowers printed in deep burgundy and brown to match the colors of the wedding. There were a total of five printed copies in the order. I have the names of the couple being wed and the date of their wedding at the bottom of the page.
I will post pix as soon as they are taken (hopefully tomorrow)
I must say, it turned out quite beautiful. It will be a really lovely and personal wedding gift. It feels nice knowing I can contribute in some way to someone else’s wedding. Especially with my own wedding mere weeks away, I have a stronger understanding of the importance of the occasion.
Speaking of… this will be my last custom job for the next few weeks as I prepare for my own wedding (then honeymoon) in July / August. Yay!

It’s official! I’ll be leading a 2 hr workshop on bookbinding at Wolfbait and b-girls in Logan Square next month. It will be on Saturday, July 17th from 5-7p. Wolfbait will be covering the cost of all supplies and providing drinks! It should be a good time. I should also practice a few more bindings before I do this. I’ve actually been planning on adding some bound journals to my etsy shop, so this is a good excuse to kick that into gear.
I’ve been going over all my school notes and hand outs from graduate and undergrad figuring out which ones would work best. I’ll probably do a few test runs to see what will be the most fun and how long it will actually take to teach. I’m still deciding whether to focus on 2-3 simpler bindings or 1 more involved binding technique.
I’m actually really excited about this! I dreamed about bookbinding last night!
(oh, and do you like the flier? That was my doing)
